The Reality
of Race: The Necessity of Race Loyalty
by
Dr. Perry “Khepera” Kyles
(This event is FREE to the public)
The Reality of Race: The Necessity of Race Loyalty will address the growing myth that
the United States has become a post-racial society. Dr. Kyles will introduce a
range of sources to illustrate that racial disparities not only exist in
various areas, but in some cases have widened over recent years. Additionally,
he will make the case that race is far more than a social construct – it is a
genetic, historical, and cultural reality as proven by human history.
Furthermore, Dr. Kyles will encourage Africans in America to not only
acknowledge the genetic, historical, and cultural reality of race, but to respond with determined and well-conceived
collective action.THIS EVENT IS FREE TO
THE PUBLIC.
Dr. Perry “Khepera” Kyles is editor and publisher of African Diaspora Press. He
is also Assistant Professor of History at Morgan State University in Baltimore,
MD. He has published in the Journal of
African American History, Africa and
the Wider World, and the Encyclopedia
of the African Diaspora.
